Forestry Mulching & Land Clearing in Pensacola, Cantonment, Pace & Milton
Forestry mulching clears underbrush, vines, palmettos, saplings and small trees in a single pass and grinds the material into a mulch layer that stays on the ground. Nothing gets piled, burned or hauled off, which makes it the fastest and least expensive way to take back an overgrown lot in Escambia or Santa Rosa County. The mulch blanket it leaves behind also protects our sandy soil from erosion and slows regrowth.
Our mulcher and skid steers work close to fences, ponds and structures without the deep ruts and root damage a bulldozer leaves behind. Typical jobs: overgrown lots and acreage, building and RV pads, fence and property lines, trails and food plots, pond banks and drainage easements, storm cleanup, and commercial pad prep.
Need something heavier? We also do full land clearing and lot clearing, root raking, earthwork, dirt work and grading, and mulch installation for finished beds.
Gravel & Asphalt Milling Driveways in Pensacola, Pace & Milton
We build, repair and resurface driveways using recycled asphalt millings, crushed concrete, limerock and gravel. Millings are reclaimed asphalt that compacts into a firm, dark, blacktop-like surface. It handles rain and heavy trucks far better than loose rock at a fraction of the cost of new pavement, which makes it the go-to choice for long rural driveways around Highway 97, Quintette, Chumuckla and Berrydale.
We handle new installs, resurfacing and topping off, pothole and washout repair, culverts and drainage correction, base prep and crowning for proper runoff, plus parking pads, RV pads and job-site access roads. More on our driveway installation page.
Commercial Lawn Care for Apartments & Condos: Orange Beach to Perdido Key
We hold contracted grounds maintenance for apartment communities, condo associations, HOAs and vacation-rental properties along the Gulf — from the Orange Beach strip and Ono Island through Perdido Beach, Innerarity Point and Perdido Key. Salt air, sugar sand and constant guest turnover are hard on a property, so we build schedules around that instead of fighting it.
- Weekly or biweekly mowing, edging, line trimming and blowing
- Bed weeding, pre-emergent applications and fresh mulch or rock installs
- Hedge, shrub and palm trimming, including frond and seed-pod removal
- Salt-tolerant and native plant installation that survives coastal exposure
- Turf fertilization, weed control and irrigation checks
- Pressure washing for breezeways, sidewalks, pool decks and dumpster pads
- Storm and hurricane-season debris cleanup
Property managers and boards get one point of contact, a certificate of insurance on file, service windows that avoid check-in and turnover days, and photo documentation after every visit. See commercial lawn care, commercial landscaping, commercial packages and commercial power washing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What areas does Big Mess No Stress serve?
We serve Cantonment, Pace, Milton, Pensacola, Molino, Gonzalez, Gulf Breeze, Navarre, Perdido Key and Innerarity Point in Northwest Florida, plus the Alabama Gulf Coast and Baldwin County, including Orange Beach, Ono Island, Gulf Shores, Perdido Beach, Foley, Daphne, Spanish Fort, Loxley, Bay Minette, Stapleton and Mobile.
What is forestry mulching and how is it different from bulldozing?
A forestry mulcher grinds standing brush, vines and small trees into mulch right where they grow, in one pass. A bulldozer pushes everything into piles that then have to be burned or hauled off, and it strips and disturbs topsoil doing it. Mulching leaves the ground intact, eliminates burn piles and hauling costs, and finishes with a protective mulch layer instead of bare sand.
How much land can you clear in a day?
On light brush and saplings a mulcher can typically cover one to two acres per day. Dense, mature growth with large-diameter trees can slow that to a half acre or less. We give you a realistic day count with your written quote.
What size trees can you mulch?
Our equipment comfortably handles brush, vines, palmettos and trees up to roughly eight to ten inches in diameter. Larger trees are usually felled first and then processed, or removed separately. We flag anything that needs a different approach during the walkthrough.
How much does land clearing or forestry mulching cost near Pensacola, Cantonment, Pace or Milton?
Pricing depends on acreage, growth density, the largest tree diameter you want mulched, and site access. Rather than quoting blind, we visit the property for free, agree on exactly what stays and what goes, and give you one flat written price with no hourly surprises. Call or text (850) 879-7807 to schedule it.
Do I need a permit to clear land in Escambia or Santa Rosa County?
It depends on the parcel. Many routine underbrush and mulching jobs on private property do not require a permit, but protected trees, wetlands, shoreline buffers and clearing ahead of development often do. Check with Escambia County or Santa Rosa County development services before work begins. We are happy to point you in the right direction and work within whatever the county requires.
Do you haul off debris?
With forestry mulching there is usually nothing to haul, because the material becomes mulch on site. When a job does produce stumps, spoil or trash that has to leave the property, hauling and disposal appear as a clearly listed line on your quote.
What are asphalt millings and how long does a millings driveway last?
Asphalt millings are recycled pavement that is spread and compacted into a firm, dark driveway surface. Properly prepared and compacted, a millings driveway commonly gives many years of service with only occasional topping off and regrading. Longevity comes down to the base underneath, the drainage and the crown, which is why we prep and compact rather than just spreading material.
Are asphalt millings better than gravel for a driveway?
For most Northwest Florida driveways, yes. Millings knit together as they are compacted and sun-cured, so they resist washout on slopes and do not scatter into the yard the way loose rock does. Gravel and limerock are still the better call for temporary access roads, deeply shaded drives that never get enough sun to cure millings, or when you want a lighter color.
Can you fix a washed-out or potholed gravel driveway?
Yes. We regrade the existing surface, correct the crown and drainage so water leaves the driveway instead of running down it, then top it with gravel, limerock or asphalt millings. Fixing the drainage is what keeps the potholes from coming back.
Do you offer ongoing lawn maintenance contracts for apartments and condos?
Yes. Most apartment, condo association and HOA clients are on recurring weekly or biweekly agreements with a fixed monthly rate, a defined scope of work, and seasonal extras such as mulch installs and pressure washing scheduled in advance. We also handle one-time cleanups and turnover-ready refreshes.
How often should Gulf Coast lawns be mowed?
From roughly April through October, most St. Augustine, Zoysia and Bermuda lawns along the Gulf Coast need weekly mowing to stay healthy and sharp. In the cooler months every two to three weeks is usually enough. Beachfront commercial and condo properties often stay weekly year-round for appearance.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Big Mess No Stress is a licensed, insured, family-owned local business, and we can provide a certificate of insurance for commercial, apartment, condo and HOA accounts on request.
